About me, my services and fee's

 

My name is Debbie; I have three children, born in 1991, 1996 and 2008.

I have always had an interest and passion in pregnancy, birth and newborns.

I fully believe in the woman's natural ablility to give birth.

For me, being able to support each and every woman and her family during this special journey is a true privilege,

whether it's your first or last, each pregnancy and birth is special and should be the best it can be.

I am naturally easy going, open and friendly and will give you non judgemental support throughout.

 

When hiring me as your Doula you will receive one to one support throughout your pregnancy, labour and birth.

I can help you become more in tune with your body and build your confidence in your bodies natural birthing instincts.

I will help you find up to date information enabling you to make your own birth choices.

 

As your Doula I cannot guarantee you a natural birth,

what I can guarantee is that you will feel empowered in making the right choices for you and your baby,

enabling you to feel in control every step of this special journey.

 

I completed a Doula course with Nurturing Birth and after going through an intense mentoring process

I am now a recognised Doula with both Doula UK and Nurturing Birth.

 

Birth package £650

this includes;

*Free initial informal meet up to discuss your needs

*Unlimited calls, texts and e-mails from time of booking - I will be there to give you continual support

throughout your pregnancy and early postnatal period.

*At least 2 antenatal visits where we will get to know each other, discuss your hopes and wishes for the

birth of your baby and talk about your birth options and support to write your birth plan/preferences.

*I will provide you and your baby's father/birth partner with techniques for coping in early labour

*24/7 on call period usually starts from week 39 until your baby is born,

although this can be earlier depending on your circumstances

*Continued presence, however long it takes, during your labour and birth until you and baby are both settled,

usually this is after you have showered and given your baby their first feed

*Early breastfeeding support

*At least 1 postnatal visit where you can reflect your birth experience.

 

Experience

My experiences includes;

Teen pregnancy, Pre-term labour and birth, ICP,

Single mothers, First time parents,

Hypnobirthing, Home births, Water births, VBAC

Induction, Assisted deliveries, both Elective and Emergency caesarean sections

as well as breast and bottle feeding.

 

I am a recognised Doula with both Doula UK and Nurturing birth.

 

I have attended a Childbirth International study day in Antenatal focus in Fear,

Homeopathic remedies in Childbirth Study day, The Art of Doula listening study day,

Slings in labour, Malposition in pregnancy and Labour, Rebozo workshop

Breech study day held by Jane Evans.

 

I hold the following qualifications;

 

Diploma in Child Physiology

Health and Social care level 3 - Children and Young Adults

 

I have Public Liability Insurance, I hold a Current Enhanced DBS, previously know as CRB,

as well as a clean driving license with business insurance.

 

I have undertaken a Breastfeeding Peer supporter

course to enable me to support your breastfeeding journey.

Postnatal support

*minimum of 20 hours spread to suit your needs - £10 per hour plus expenses.

Hiring a Postnatal Doula allows you as a mother

to enjoy your 'babymoon' those special first few weeks with your newborn.

I can be there to help with light housework, shopping, meal preparation

or just a listening ear and some adult company.

If you have older children, I can offer practical help with finding a new family balance

Hiring me as your Doula will enable you to have emotional support as well as practical help

during those first few weeks or months .

I offer support with breastfeeding or recovery following a caesarean section

I am flexible and willing to adapt my support to suit the individual needs of each family.

Areas that I cover

 

I live in Stourbridge which has close motorway links enabling me to cover the West Midlands area.

I am happy to travel up to 45 minutes from the DY area

This includes but is not inclusive;

Dudley, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, Worcester

Tens machine,

These are loaned free when booking my birth package as well as access to an extensive lending library

Birth preparation sessions - £60

 

A one to one birth preparation session in the comfort of your own home!

During this session we will talk about your options and choices in labour and birth,

to help you to make informed choices when birthing your baby.

This session can include, options on where to birth your baby/babies

The physiology of birth and the importance hormones play in labour and birth.

Relaxation, positions you can use during labour.

Techniques for your birth partner to support you when you are in early labour

I can support you with writing your birth plan/preferences

 

These sessions can be tailored to your needs and are aimed to build your knowledge,

giving you the confidence to make informed choices for the birth of your baby/babies!

 

These sessions usually last between 2-3 hours,

can be split into two, one and a half hour sessions

and are ideal for those not requiring my birth package.

 

 

Sling Consultations £10ph plus mileage

 

Following completing a babywearing consultant course, I am now a

Babywearing Consultant after compeleting the a course with school of babywearing

I can now offer sling demo's and consultations.

Giving you more advice and support in the safe use of baby slings and carriers.

I am more than happy to take monthly payment plans to suit your finances

 

The Doula UK Access Fund covers the expenses of Doula UK doulas volunteering to work with local clients in financial hardship, enabling those on a very low income to have the support of a doula.

 

Who Is Eligible?

The Doula UK Access Fund is only available to:

 

women who have a total household income of £16,000 or less, and: are in receipt of means-tested benefits

or have a referral from a health professional, for example from a midwife or GP, stating why you would benefit from the support of a doula as well as confirmation that you have an annual total household income below £16,000.
